The Road Municipal guardrail can regulate the road traffic order, so as to improve the traffic speed of main roads, prevent vehicles from turning around at will, and ensure the traffic safety of pedestrians and non motor vehicles crossing the road. So what should be considered for the municipal road guardrail?


On june15,2019, the Ministry of Public Security issued and implemented the latest industry standard guide to the setting of urban road traffic barriers (ga/t1567-2019), which was drafted by the road traffic safety research center of the Ministry of public security.

The content is as follows:

1、 This standard is applicable to the setting and application of urban road traffic barriers, and the setting of township road traffic barriers can be implemented by reference.

2、 The traffic barrier is defined as the barrier of separation facilities set on urban roads to maintain traffic order, including motor vehicle barrier, non motor vehicle barrier and pedestrian barrier.

3、 It specifies how to set up traffic barriers on the road, and specifies in the chapter [setting requirements]: the setting of motor vehicle barriers and non motor vehicle barriers shall match the corresponding road traffic markings, and shall not conflict with road traffic signs, markings, signal lights and other traffic management facilities. The installation of traffic barriers shall be firm, durable, eye-catching and easy to maintain. Traffic barriers shall not be set to facilitate pedestrians' climbing, crossing and crossing. The setting of traffic barriers shall not hinder the safe driving sight distance. Advertisements and billboards shall not be installed on the traffic barriers.

Specification and standard for installation of traffic barrier on urban roads

1 General

1.1 these Regulations are formulated to regulate the setting of the city's road traffic isolation barriers, ensure the safety, smoothness and order of road traffic, improve the management level of urban roads, and beautify the city's appearance.

1.2 this specification is applicable to the design, construction and acceptance of roadways, sidewalk isolation guardrails and other works of urban new and reconstructed road projects. The design, construction and acceptance of garden green space, residential quarter and Industrial Park isolation fence projects can be implemented with reference to the provisions of these regulations.

1.3 setting principle of guardrail

According to the first ring road (excluding the first ring road), the median guardrail with length of 4.0m and height of 0.7m and the motor and non motor isolation belt guardrail are set on the road, the median guardrail with length of 4.0m and height of 1.1m and the motor and non motor isolation belt guardrail with length of 4.0m and height of 0.7m are set on the outer road of the first ring road (including the first ring road), the sidewalk isolation guardrail with length of 2.0m and height of 1.1m and the bus lane with length of 4.0m are set on the sidewalk The isolation guardrail of bus lane with a height of 1.1m shall be set in principle.

Other forms of road traffic isolation can also be adopted according to the needs of road traffic, but shall be reviewed by relevant departments.

3 terms and definitions

3.1 the following terms and definitions are used in this standard:

3.1.1 guardrail: the guard vehicles set along the subgrade edge of the dangerous section leave the subgrade, the protective facilities set along the central separation belt to prevent vehicles from entering the opposite carriageway, and the facilities set to ensure pedestrian safety to isolate pedestrians from vehicles. According to its horizontal setting position in the road, it can be divided into central separation belt guardrail, machine and non machine isolation guardrail, sidewalk isolation guardrail, bus lane isolation guardrail, mobile isolation guardrail and fixed isolation guardrail.

3.1.1.1 median guardrail: the guardrail set in the median of urban roads is a facility for warning and forcing vehicles to drive in opposite directions. According to the height of the space in the road, it can be divided into high guardrail and low guardrail in the median.

3.1.1.2 motor vehicle and non motor vehicle isolation guardrail: the guardrail set on the motor vehicle and non motor vehicle isolation belt of urban roads is a facility for warning and forcing motor vehicles and non motor vehicles to drive separately.

3.1.1.3 sidewalk isolation guardrail: the isolation guardrail set on the sidewalk of urban roads near the curb is a facility to warn and force pedestrians and vehicles to walk and drive separately.

3.1.1.4 bus lane isolation guardrail: isolation facilities set on both sides of the bus lane and separated from other lanes.

3.1.1.5 mobile isolation guardrail: isolation facilities set on the ground without embedded foundation and easy to move.

3.1.1.6 fixed isolation guardrail: the end post is buried underground or set on the prefabricated parts buried underground and connected with bolts.

3.1.2 guardrail transition section: it is a structural section set between the outward moving end of the guardrail and the standard section for smooth transition.

3.1.3 contour mark: it is a sight guidance facility set on the guardrail column to indicate the guardrail boundary.
